The first time I saw you Gendry, You gave all your stuff away To those, who knew The truest meaning of hunger. Now and then, I think again, Of you From half a world away. Are you still in the same place? With all the acid casualties and orange caped-vampire freaks? Or did you move on? Your raincoat was worn and old, Did you ever come in from the cold and break of it's stranglehold? A bizarre chance encounter On a Castro Street corner, Led to 3/4 hours going by Not so different, You and I. Seems all it took was a lie, One that shook your whole life And left you there. Broken lovelorn, On the rocks, While the Siren was with the Fox How can blood remain Thicker than water? When your daughter's not Your daughter. I bet a sharpened serpent's tooth Could have nothing on a truth, Quite like that. Your raincoat was worn and old, Did you ever come in from the cold and break of it's stranglehold?

I swear, We’ve been here once before. We’ve sipped from this glass and We’ve banged upon this door. Now once more, We recite old lines. Of the end times, always mine’s, The camels, straws, the broken spines. Still some questions keep me awake, Does the snake shed its skin? Or the skin shed the snake? Could I have been better? Before it was too late? Or are the spare keys to the kingdom In the flower pot by the gates? Now the if not’s, could’ves, perhaps and when’s Come swimming round The bowls of our skulls again. What we’d give, to halt the hands Of the clock. You’ll always be my little green light Across the dock.

I guess I’ll never, Never get to meet you. What you’ve sown will never speak of you Tangled in the thorns, All twisted and torn, You walked into the River Mourne. Was there anyone there? Anyone there to greet you? When you slipped on through the veil anew? In your darkest dusk, Your darkest dawn You walked into the River Mourne. Well no-one knew why No-one caught the signs in time. No-one got to say goodbye. Searched in vain for clues, When they heard the news. Did you ever Wonder what you’d leave behind? At the end of your road, The end of the line A family of nine. All lost and forlorn, You walked in to the River Mourne. Well no-one knew why No-one caught the signs in time. No-one got to say goodbye. Searched in vain for clues, When they heard the news.

Why do some people Think they’re always right? Board up the windows, lock out the light? As if the truth, were a jingle They could jangle, high-above To be grasped at from all angles. Why do others come alive at night? Only see the world by the laptop light? Of course it seems, we’re at the end my friend When Pink Elephants are on the march again. Well where does their world end? And where does mine begin? I beg your pardon, What did the bird in the garden say? Did he promise to check in? Make sure I’m okay? Even though you’d worry anyway. Are you burdened with a pebble? Or a boulder? A bold bit more than seven stitches to the shoulder? Is it just like time to always splinter? Is it just like time to harp strange reeds with its fingers? Well where does this world end? And where does the next begin? Do you think we’ll meet again? Or at least, I’ll be the ghost sat at your feast? Well, all these things I’ve never know.
